LeAnn & Verlene left before I got the camera out...and we missed Jody!

Stamp group has come to the end of the road. We have had a great run and I think we are up to 3 years?? (is that right, or is it 4?) We have had other members through the years and have hated to see them go, and we have picked up others to help finish our run.

Last night we had our last stamp group gathering. Shannon our fearless leader had some wonderful projects for us.Here are two of the 3. (I can't find my third one...but it was amazing too!)

I know we will be having stamp nights in the future, but I will miss our every other month food/stamping/food/chatting/food/stamp group fest. Thanks girls for the fabulous run! And thanks to Shannon for all of her amazing ideas, projects and workspace!

Chic Boutique

I had a card party on Friday and my awesome hostess, Madeline, asked me to do something French so this is how the make & take turned out....

Chic Boutique stamp set and Nouveau Chic DSP were the two main ingredients. The I used the new flower punch (4 layers of DSP), my current favorite brads and of course a little Dazzling Diamonds for the Eiffel Tower....voila!

Have I really not posted anything since July? I'm going to fire myself from my own stamping blog!!!

Anyway since returning from Leadership Conference, which was last week, my mind has been buzzing with everything I want to try and make. To be honest, I've never felt this excited about stamping, post event. It was an AMAZING week last week!!!!!!

Anyway I wanted to make some cards for my friend's birthday. She's a non-frills kind of gal so I wanted to try something w/my new Vintage Vogue stamp set, and neutral colors....

Very Vanilla card stock, clear embossing powder, VersaMark, Soft Suede ink, Vintage Vogue and Chic Boutique stamp sets.
Kraft card stock and Soft Suede textured for the strip in the middle.
Soft Suede card stock, silver Encore. Lg flower is VersaMark & clear embossing powder.

Wow! A new post...it's a Christmas miracle!

Back in October, Shannon had a great gift idea for Christmas. TAGS. I decided that is what I would be giving neighbors this year.

Here I am mid project after tag #800 and wondering what I had gotten myself into!

And here is the finished project:

Supplies used:
Delightful Decorations Stamp Set (2009 Holiday Mini)
Christmas Punch Stamp set (hostess set)
Oval punch, square punch, ornament punch, tag punch
Kraft, white, Real Red and Old Olive paper
Real Red polka dot grosgrain ribbon
SU Clear envelopes
Fiskars paper crimper

My fingers were a little sore after all the punching and tying of the ribbon. I did have one neighbor tell me she loved it so much that she wasn't going to use them, just look at them. And another neighbor actually used one of them on their gift to us :) That made it ALL worth it. Now that I have all the stuff, I can do it again. I just need a year to recover!

Convention 2009 (Vanessa)

LeAnn and I had the amazing opportunity of attending the Stampin' Up Convention in SLC a few weeks ago. We got to see the opening session which was exciting. We experienced all the attendees screaming like they were at a rock concert when Shelli (the founder of SU) appeared, we learned that Stampin' Up has a yearly theme song, we found out that hats can be fashioned out of die cuts from the Big Shot and we also learned that when you give out Stampin' Up Build-A-Bears, middle aged women go nuts.

The real reason we were there was to see our fellow Stamping Queen Shannon present on the big stage. We both think she has the best job ever and this just solidified it for us.Here is the big convention hall she presented in.

There she is on the jumbo tron, getting everyone pumped and ready for her presentation.

Here she is stamping and showing her creations from p.208 in the catalog (under $10 stamps). See how professional this production is? A cameraman and everything!

We are proud to say that Shannon is our friend and demonstrator. She did a great job and didn't even seem nervous presenting in front of all those people. She gets two thumbs up in our book...but we're not biased or anything!

July Club Projects (Shannon)

We had a fantastic club tonight!!! Here are the projects...using all kinds of new products!

This one uses my new favorite stamp set (not a surprise, I am sure): Chic Boutique....

...and a little bit of Melon Mambo card stock & ribbon....bummer that the dazzling diamonds on the Eiffel Tower didn't show up in the photo!

Next....Rich Razzleberry CS, Razzleberry Lemonade DSP cut out w/Big Shot butterflies, and Razzle Dazzle stamp set to make the background....

Lastly, I made a card using Medallion. I copied one of the samples in the catalog and used pastels--love love love the little halo it leaves behind! I did two-tone pastels. Then used a metal edge tag for the center....for the club, everyone made one w/the Really Rust pastel and a Dusty Durango center. But after club, I started messing around with other colors and made these.....

This one is my favorite.....for obvious reasons: PURPLE! (I used Lovely Lilac & Elegant Eggplant pastels, with a Rich Razzleberry center).

Accordion folded flowers (Shannon)

I saw a card sample online and I tried to recreate it from my mind but was having a really difficult time--it just wasn't turning out! So I started playing around and this is what I made instead....

This was the first one I tried and made such a mess of it that i went back after and figured out how to make it work. Zoey chose the DSP so I made it for her.

Not the cutest cards I've ever made but they were fun and I want to try some more.....

Last month, I made my sis some thank you notes for her Moulin Rouge shower....and here they are. Inside they say "merci".
I used an Eiffel Tower stamp set from a far inferior stamp company--but it was the best one I had so it had to do....however I just got Stampin' Up!'s newest Eiffel Tower stamp, and I seriously cannot wait to use it! It will definitely be on one of our club projects this month!

Simple B-day Thanks (Shannon)

I love the Simple Birthday Thanks stamp and have been dying to use it sime it appeared in the catty last July....so last weekend I made a couple thank you notes for my b-day gifts. I gave one to my mama, and one for each of my 3 sisters.
I stamped the side of the cupcake exactly on the fold of cardstock--so it was a darling little cucake card (you can see the back of it in the above picture). Then I restamped the image on DSP and cut out just the frosting so that it looked perfect! Lastly I added the cherry on top and a little bling.

I just loved how cute these cards turned out--and after I handed them out, I didn't get one comment from those that know they should comment on my cards! So I said "Do ya'll not like the cards? You didn't say one thing!" And Allyson said "Well yeah they are cute but they aren't the cutest cards you've ever made or anything." hahaha I can always count on her to say something completely unexpected.

But I didn't care b/c I think they are the cutest ever!

Stamp Club (Shannon)

This week was stamp club again and all the projects featured Designer Series Paper, since Stampin' Up! has a promotion this month where you can buy 3 packs of paper, get one free!!

This first one uses the Rockabilly paper--that has some glossy stuff on each page....I paired it with the Tart & Tangy stamp set...

You can sort of see that I've also lined the inside of the envelope with the same shiny, cherry paper. I got a card from my friend Lacey this week--it was such a fabulous card with the same idea--DSP on the inside of the envelope that matched the card. So I immediately stole that idea and this card is the result. :) (Lacey, there is one on its way to you!)

This next card was inspired by one of the cards we made in Virginia, during the card class that Robin Merriman did for my friends. I took the same idea--Manhattan flower die--and just changed the colors a little to incorporate Parisian Breeze DSP.

I'm going to be so sad when Baja Breeze retires! :(

Lastly, I used Trendy Trees and Tangerine Tango Patterns DSP...nice photgraphy, eh?

I tried out the Urban Oasis Designer Series paper along with the Bloom Again Die Cuts from the Manhattan Collection coordinating accessories. (p.9 in the SU! catalog) And I used my free stamp set from the Sale-a-bration catalog: Polka Dot Punches.

I love glitter. And I love these cards. Coincidentally, so does Sina--at least I hope she does love them if she has received them! :) I used craft ink, heat & stick & glitter.These cards were the first ones I made--and then I tried using Grand Soiree--which also looks completely amazing and that's why we made them in stamp club this week!

This crown is not a Stampin' Up! stamp, unfortunately. You can't win 'em all. :)

This last one is my fave--it was stamped in black craft w/hot pink glitter over. Totally amazing! :)

If you are in my stamp club, you are going to get to learn this technique on Monday!!!! This was the first time I tried Bleaching and I LOVED IT!!!! It's super fun and super cool (like totally!).

I had an old Simply Sent kit so I got it out so Zoey & I could stamp at her house one night. The Simply Sent kits have everything you need included--so it's super conveniet to take them with you or on the road or whatever.

I loved how the watercoloring of these cards turned out so I thought I'd post it. :)
The kit came w/Perfect Plum, Brocade (or it might be Ballet) Blue & Always Artichoke watercolor wonder crayons. I used the Blue one first then did layer of Plum after the Blue dried. Here's a close-up....

Amanda--you kept asking me for the measurements for the card stock and Designer Series Paper from our Simply Scrappin' event. So I finally took pictures of the 12 x 12's I put on display and just thought I'd upload them here....maybe some of the rest of you could use these too. :)

Solid 12 x 12.....to make love notes and long skinny cards (always score at the half way mark)...
2nd solid 12 x 12...to make 4 x 4 cards when finished (square piece in the corner is a spare)...
DSP...to make accents for the cards.....

God's Gift of Nature (Shannon)

When I was in Jackson, a demonstrator named Vita Padalino showed us how to do this technique which she calls "God's Gift of Nature." I absolutely love it and had been looking for cards that use this stamp set.

Zoey and I made these cards together--so even though it looks difficult, here's an easy step-by-step:

1) Punch out the moon w/a circle punch and a post-it (we used 1-3/8"---I think).

2) Place moon on Whisper White and then sponge around it w/different shades of blue, starting w/the lightest first. Remove moon mask.

3) Stamp silhouette image in StazOn or Basic Black.

4) Add white highlights w/white gel pen.

Then you just assemble the card and that's it! If you make one of these, make sure to leave a comment w/a link!!

Awhile back in Midway, Shiloh taught me how to make this awesome box using Shannon's Big Shot and Top Note Die Cut. Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I did mine in all pink. I had these pink note cards that fit perfectly in the box. I made a set of 4 thank you cards to go with it. I LOVE how it turned out!

I made a little halloween decoration w/Stamin' Up!s new-ish product line--Decor Elements. I am really happy w/the way it turned out and can't wait to try another...

I got the tile at Lowe's for just a couple bucks, cleaned it, put the image on the tile, sprayed it w/a glossy coat, then sprinkled a little glitter over the gloss before it dried. The 2nd picture is an attempt at a close-up of the glitter....

Last week all the Queens, and several others, attended my Simply Scrappin' card event....and it was such a blast! I didn't get any cards from the I Wish kit finished before the event, so I've done some now and am going to post them for those who chose the same kit. :)

My mom and I decided to order a Big Shot and a few dies to go with it. I am so excited that Stampin' Up! sells these itmes and cannot wait to introduce them to my customers! :) This card uses the Top Note die and of course one of my favorites tools, the scallop punch (how did I ever stamp w/out it?).

Then one more card which doesn't use the Big Shot, but does use one of my new fave stamp sets: Cheers to You. It's such a fun set b/c you can experiment w/watercoloring and come up w/all kinds of fancy drinks! :)

Fan Mail & Grand Soiree (Shannon)

Shiloh and I stamped this past weekend and I made a bunch of cards....this one is my fave of the bunch! I just love Puns from the Past and wanted to make it a little vintagey--obviously b/c that's what the stamp sets is like. :) haha
These next two are created w/my current fave stamp set: Grand Soiree. I LOVE IT!! We did these projects in stamp club this past month. I got both of the ideas from Mary Polcin at convention--the first is a card, folded in 1/2 as usual, then one side is folded back 1/2 again. Then place the main image on front and the card sort of folds out. Very easy yet very clever and cute! It's Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip & Regal Rose which I got from the Idea Book & Catalog (the samples on the same page as this stamp set). I also used Gratuitous Graffiti.

For the card holder, fold an 8-1/2" x 11" sheet of card stock in half, and then score the other side @ 3". It will then have 2 pockets that will hold regular size cards.

Sweet Bella Shaker Card (Shannon)

I used some of my new products to make my first shaker card tonight....

It's not perfect, but the micro beads actually stayed inside the shaker!!! Miracle! :) The close-up below shows the beads a little better....I don't think I used enough but of course by the time I figured that out, it was too late.

Convention Make & Takes (Shannon)

Today we had a department celebration for Convention--and we went to Donna's cabin and had lunch, relaxed and.....did the Convention Make & Takes (read more about that here)!!! I was so excited because 1) I never get to do these projects it seems like and 2) I hadn't even seen some of them until this afternoon!

Unfortunately I only finished 3 of them...this first one was the one I started off with because when I saw my Mom's finished version, I knew I had to make it....

I think I am really going to love using Pink Pirouette this year. Plus the bling! Isn't it fabulous!! I Vegas'd mine up a little...but I'm sure that doesn't surprise you....

This next one is a book mark....Pacific Point ribbon, Filigree brads and Eastern Blooms stamp set.
And an effort at a close up.....which is pretty bad b/c my photog is not the best....and I took these pics at night (never a good thing).

Anyway I'll post the other one I made soon. Plus the new catalog goes live on Monday and I simply am soooooooo excited!!!

As always, our wonderful SU Demonstrator Shannon comes up with such great projects for us to make at our stamp groups. We appreciate all of her preparation and creativity getting ready to meet with us every other month!

This project was particularly fun. We sealed an envelope and cut the top off of it and stuck some card stock inside. Very easy to replicate!

This group dance was choreographed by Mia Michaels, who I normally can't stand. But this dance was somewhat fascinating and I loved all the black and white patterns.

Disco music has been a dear love of mine for many years now--and their gold and white costumes this week seriously made me freak out!
The BFF represents the angel wings on Will's back. :) Loved that little touch on his outfit!

The Queens have been on a bit of a stamping haitus....we took last weekend off due to traveling, headaches, and busy-ness. So in the interim I've been saving this fabulous little card to post:
Jaron gave this to me awhile back--can't remmeber the occasion--probably just a "thanks" card for being able to work w/someone so amazing! :) These are flowers from the Pretties Kit that are watercolored and then folded over. Isn't it amazing?!? If you think so you can go to his junk drawer and tell him so.

Another weekend...another challenge....here's Beate's template...
We decided to use So You Think You Can Dance as our inspiration this week because we were all so excited that it is back on!!! I chose Twitchington as my inspiration this week. I love both Twitch & Kherington and their broadway number was so much fun!! The dance starts around the 2:00 mark....

This card was so hard!! For some reason, it just wasn't turning out right and I had to try lots of different things. In the end, I was happy with it, only to have the picture not do it justice at all! I had to add a little bling (which there was polka dot bling on Twitch's tie) but then it doesn't even show in the picture (silver polka dots on the silver square of paper). Also I didn't intend for the feathers to look like a bird (sorry V). And yes, I did have to take my black boa apart---the things I sacrifice for my creativity! :)

I'm a little bummed that Rayven was the first girl eliminated this week. I LOVE that she is a ballerina and danced on pointe. I thought the reason she was eliminated was lame, although, I too wish her solo would have been on pointe--it would have made more of an impression. I love all types of dance but Ballet is one of my very favorite. I love the tradition, history, costumes, choreography, the pas de deux and the corps de ballet, and I enjoy that ballet tells a beautiful story. Ballet technique is really the basis for all other forms of dance. When I saw the opening of the last show, I loved Rayven's outfit and the color combination. I thought she looked very Parisian with the beret and tutu...a fabulous combination...Paris and Ballet. (Paris is after all the birthplace of ballet, which is probably why I like them both so much!)

Ok so I'm a little later than Vanessa....but I too made a card for LeAnn for her b-day....here it is....
I just love the new Fresh Cuts satmp set and coordinating notes!!! Of course i had to incorporate an Eiffel Tower into her card-since she is my Eiffel Tower loving kindred spirit!

And this is my color inspiration for the card--I got this from Real Simple and just loved the monochromaticness of it all--would never think of putting these colors together but love they way the look!!!

I used Purely Pom, Real Red & Regal Rose. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEANN!!!!! I hope tomorrow is a wonderful day!

I found this shirt pattern here. Cambria has a step by step tutorial on how to fold the shirt. We did a card similar to this at our YW activity last week. I think the girls liked it (you just never know with 14 year olds!)

This past Friday, Vanessa, LeAnn & I went to see Sex & the City. It was totally amazing...but I digress...after the movie, we were talking about doing Beate's challenge this weekend and we decided we would use her template, AND use the movie as additional inspiration for our creations.

So here's this weekend's template:
The movie was packed with amazing outfits, handbags, and accessories that I could hardly choose....this outfit was the winner b/c it was on some of the promos and everytime I saw it--I fell in love all over again! :)

I was stamping with Zoey on Saturday.....

And she asked me to watercolor a heart for her. She picked out the crayons she wanted me to use from my Watercolor Wonder Crayons, and I ended up liking the color scheme so much that I used it for this challenge too...

Because of my ongoing love affair with watercoloring, I've been using "Just Celebrate" a lot lately...
I used watercolor paper for both these samples--and the one on top is backed w/Chocolate Chip even though it looks black. Then the other main colors are Groovy Guava & Purely Pom.
These samples also use Delightful Doodles Designer Series Paper (which is unfortunately discontinued)....is anyone else going to be sad when these In Colors are gone? :(

Last Tuesday was my birthday--and going out of town for your birthday is great b/c you get presents before and after so all of a sudden you have a really long birthday. :)

So today, Carrie--my coworker (who coincidentally just entered the blogging world--which you will see by clicking here that this will be a blessing for us all)--presented me w/what is pretty much uncontested as my favorite card of all time....

Yes, that IS a Diet Coke can!!!! Here's a close up...

She used the 5-petal punch on the can!!! Because of the happiness this card brought me, I shall now devote my life to making Diet Coke cards for everyone!!

For Mother's Day, I made some cards for my two Grannies....I used the Summer Picnic DSPaper + Tart & Tangy stamp set + that other stamp set that is in the Occasions Mini (One Smart Cookie?). This first one was my favorite....

Oh and I used a few of the Die Cut Blooms....I procrastinated using the large blooms until last b/c they were so big and awkward--but I love how these cards ended up....
This next card is actually white....even though it looks blue....must make a better effort at taking pictures during the day...
And the last one...it says "{make a wish}" just above the ribbon but you can barely see it....

This is one of my favorite cards the I have ever made!! Primarily b/c of the color scheme, which I copied from an outfit at Naartjie--a children's clothing store that I always end up in w/my sisters. So the last time I went, I decided to make better use of my time by jotting down a bunch of color schemes.

I made the pouch out of So Saffron, and I made it so that it would fit inside an envelope--not sure the exact measurements. Here are all the supplies: Card stock--So Saff, Purely Pom, Cameo Coral, Blue Bayou; Ink--Purely Pom, Blue Bayou; Stamp Set--Together Forever & Hugs & Wishes?; Accessories--Blue Bayou double-stitched ribbon & linen thread, 1-3/8" punch & corner rounder. (NOTE: ignore the star--that is just the holder stand thing that I used to keep it upright for a photo).

My sweet co-worker Lori, gave me this love note (3" x 3" card) just before I left for Australia to wish me luck....

I don't know if she even knows that not only do I collect stars, but "Superstar" is my fave song by the Carpenters! :) I thought this card was so cute--and so simple....just a little card stock, punches and rub-ons. So I was inspired to try some really easy love notes as well....and this is what I came up with....

This first one is Pixie Pink (crowns), Pink Passion (chandelier) and Basic Black...you might've noticed these aren't all Stampin' Up! stamps (gasp!). Which is pretty much against my rules since I am a demonstrator...but sometimes I can't help myself (like when I ran across the perfect Eiffel Tower and also when I found this Chandelier).

This one is Cameo Coral (currently my fave color) for both the French Script and the chandelier...then Eastern Elegance rub-ons for the greeting.

And then this one is More Mustard (crowns), Marvelous Magenta (French Script) and Basic Black chandelier w/rub-ons for the greeting.

You can see I got a little carried away...but that's the beauty of a love note---it's so small that you can make a million of them in a short amount of time! :)

I seriously do not know how I made it through life before I encountered rubber stamps!!! I LOVE THEM!!!

Baroque Background (Shannon)

I have used the Baroque background stamp probably more than any other stamp currently in the catalog. I LOVE IT! Jill and I made this card a couple months ago when she was in town. She took it with her so I am glad I at least snapped a picture.

I think my favorite thing about this card is the way the red and black look so intense, yet still so elegant. (Supply list: Real Red & Basic Black cardstock, Basic Black ink, sticky cuts letters, red chunky glitter, black organdy ribbon).

Freak Out! (Shannon)

In my mind, Seriously Sassy was a stamp set designed for teenagers...so it warrants bold colors! I made this love note for my stamp club last month.....

...but then I ran out of Brilliant Blue card stock (Brill Blue is the most "in" color right now--if you ask me--so of course it is perfect for a teen card) so I decided to try it w/Pink Passion instead....

I love them both but I am thinking I slightly prefer the Brill Blue....what do you think? And just because I've been asked how I would use this card--I would give it to someone as a celebratory type greeting "Freak Out--THAT IS AWESOME!" For example. You could also use it for a b-day card "Freak out--Celebrate!" Next task....work on my photography! :)

Shannon gave us the dimensions for this box that holds 3x3 cards at one of our past workshops. I am in the process of NOT buying any more paper and trying to use up what I have. So I have a mish-mash of product in this project!

We decided to start a blog where we could share ideas....we get so many ideas from others and we want to give back a little. We love stamping, cardmaking, scrapbooking, etc. So hopefully you do too and you can share some ideas with us as well!

This first sample is one that Teresa Dabrowski presented on stage in Australia last week. It's a resist technique--she embossed with clear powder on Whisper White card stock...and then used a sponge dauber to add some color. Then just wipe away the excess ink from the embossed portions of the card with a paper towel.

The colors she used are: Groovy Guava, Ruby Red (I think), and River Rock. Isn't it amazing!! So beautiful and colorful!
